Day 4: Take it one day at a time...

Every day is a new challenge, but if you take it one day at a time, the days add up. Focus on today, not the entirety of time ahead.

Tomorrow will take care of itself and, though it might sound odd and it might at first seem a little confusing: Tomorrow will be today, tomorrow.

So, forget about tomorrow, you can face it tomorrow. Just do today.

I found this helped with alcohol and I learned about it in r/stopdrinking (which I explored yesterday).

The thought of saying, “I’ll never drink again,” was – honestly – terrifying. Alcohol was a huge part of my life, especially in social situations, where a few drinks gave me confidence.

So, I banished the phrase, “I’ll never drink again,” from my mind and took things one day at a time.

After a month I realised I didn’t need alcohol to survive social situations. I found I could manage them by being me, but that’s a story for another day.

So, today’s lesson – on Day 4 of your journey – is to take it day by day. There’s just one day – today – that you need to focus on and that’s all that matters.

Home.

Stay positive and, as we say at r/stopdrinking: I will not drink with you today.
